The "C&O Bike Trail" tour by TourPace Travel is a four-day, van-supported cycling journey along the historic Chesapeake & Ohio (C&O) Canal Towpath, covering approximately 182 miles from Cumberland, Maryland, to Georgetown in Washington, D.C. This adventure offers a blend of scenic landscapes, historical landmarks, and cultural experiences.
Day 0: Arrive in Cumberland MD. Check in to Airbnb. Only Dinner to be served that day:

Itineraries
Day 1
Date : May 15, 2025
Time : 6:30 am
Cumberland, MD to Little Orleans, MD (Approx. 43 miles)

- Morning: Start C&O Canal in Cumberland (182.00)
- Mid-day: Ride east along the towpath. A highlight of today is the Paw Paw Tunnel (around Mile 156)
- Afternoon: Continue through the scenic countryside.
- Evening: Aim to reach the Little Orleans area (around Mile 141).
- Camping: Ridge Rider Campground: Confirmation TBD.
- Lodging: If you prefer hotel accommodation this is the city to book one. Tour Place will not cover hotel costs.
Food:
Breakfast: Oatmeal, Bread, Chai, Nuts such as almond.
Lunch: ideas: Burritos(Tortillas, Blackbeans, Pinto, ) Soya bean, sour cream ,cheese, avocados, Cilantro, Fresh Tomatoes, asparagus.
Dinner: Dal, Bhat, alu kopi OR Masu
Day 2
Date : May 16, 2025
Time : 6:30 am
Day 2: Little Orleans, MD to Williamsport, MD (Approx. 41 miles)

- Morning: You have the option to stay on the C&O Towpath or, just west of Hancock, take a detour onto the paved Western Maryland Rail Trail for a smoother ride.
- Mid-day: Lunch in the town of Hancock (around Mile 113-124). It's a good resupply point.
- Afternoon: If you took the rail trail, you can rejoin the C&O or continue on the paved path for a bit longer. History buffs might consider a short detour to Fort Frederick State Park, a reconstructed 18th-century fort.
- Evening: Your destination is Williamsport (around Mile 85).
- Camping: There are hiker/biker campsites around Opequon Junction (Mile 90.9) or Cumberland Valley (Mile 95.2) before Williamsport.
- Lodging: Williamsport offers several inns and B&Bs.

Breakfast: Jhalmuri ( Sprouts(chana) ,boiled potatoes, Fresh Tomato, Chilli, Onion, Radish, Cucumber, Chilantro, Salt, Lemon, greenpeas(motor), avacados flavoured with mustard oil.

Lunch: Chicken/Veggie Gyro
Protein: Boneless chicken
Lemon juice or red wine, Minced garlic, onion, Dried oregano,cumin, paprika, coriander, Olive oil, Greek yogurt, Pita Bread: Warmed or grilled for serving.

Dinner: Dal, Bhat, Alu Kopi Or Masu
Day 3
Date : May 17, 2025
Time : 6:30 am
Day 3: Williamsport, MD to Brunswick, MD (Approx. 45 miles)
- Morning: Begin riding from Williamsport. Today you'll experience the unique Big Slackwater section (around Mile 85), where you ride on a cantilevered concrete path above the Potomac River.
- Mid-day: You'll pass near Shepherdstown, WV, a charming college town just across the river (accessible via a bridge). It's a great place for lunch and exploring. You'll also be near Antietam National Battlefield (near Sharpsburg, MD), a significant Civil War site if you have time for a visit.
- Afternoon: Continue towards Harpers Ferry, WV (around Mile 60.8). You'll need to cross a bridge to access the town, which is a National Historical Park at the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers.
- Evening: Continue a bit further to Brunswick, MD (around Mile 55).
- Camping: There are hiker/biker campsites before Brunswick, such as Huckleberry Hill (Mile 62.9). The Brunswick Family Campground (Mile 54) is a commercial option right in town.
- Lodging: Brunswick has several lodging options. Please note Tour Pace will not cover the lodging fees: Hotels, Airbnbs etc.

Day 4
Date : May 18, 2025
Time : 6:30 am
Brunswick, MD to Georgetown (Washington D.C.) (Approx. 55 miles)

- Morning: Start your final day heading towards the nation's capital. You'll pass by White's Ferry (if it's operating), the last cable ferry on the Potomac.
- Mid-day: You'll ride through the scenic area around Great Falls Park, a dramatic series of waterfalls on the Potomac. This is a good spot for a break and photos.
- Afternoon: Continue along the towpath as it gets closer to the urban areas surrounding D.C. The trail can get more crowded on weekends closer to the city.
- Evening: You'll reach the official end of the C&O Canal Towpath at Mile 0 in Georgetown, Washington D.C. Celebrate your accomplishment! Arrange for transportation from Georgetown as needed.
